Sparky’s Bridge Too Far Parachute Jump.
This year, as part of the 75th Anniversary of the epic Battle of Arnhem, part of World War Two’s Operation Market Garden that saw 10,000 men dropped by parachute into the Ruhr valley to capture a bridge head north of the Rhine and securing the Allied forces advance after the Victorious Normandy campaign. Me, Spary Sparks will be jumping out of a plane to raise money for two fantastic charities.
I won’t just be jumping out of a plane though. I will be training to get my Dutch Wings prior to getting the amazing chance to do a static line jump, on my own from an actual working plane!!! 🙂
This will be done in authentic WW2 Parachutists kit and equipment. So, not just an ordinary parachute jump.
The two fantastic charities are Forgotten Veterans UK (1175556) and Support our Paras (1131977) These are causes that a very close to my heart for many different reasons. “Forgotten Veterans UK” do amazing work supporting Veterans and their families all across the UK, their support is invaluable as a place where both Veterans and Serving soldiers can get advice, guidance and Buddy Support from a volunteer and Veteran Led community.
“Support our Paras” do truly amazing work supporting members of the Parachute Regiment, they look after the welfare of serving soldiers and families and those affected by recent operations, and through the maintenance of its regimental efficiency, ethos, spirit and heritage.
So, on the 7th – 13th July I will be in the Netherlands where I will training to get my Dutch Para Wings, this will be at the Pathfinder training facility that have qualified thousands of Civilian and Military parachutists. As this is no ordinary jump, they will be teaching me to jump on my own. No tandem stuff anymore 🙂
Once I have my wings, I will be set for the jump. This is going to happen sometime between 21st – 24th September 2019.
The Money raised will be split equally between the two charities. Great causes I am sure you will agree so if you can dig deep, every penny counts and will make huge differences to so many people.
Wish me luck………….
Video provided by Steve Cuthbert who has done the same jump.
Another Video of Steve, so you can see what I will be getting myself into 🙂
